BRAVADE
Bravade Recorder Quartet - Promotion Video »
BRAVADE is an illustrious and active recorder quartet specializing in Renaissance recorders. The Bravade musicians have studied early styles of music at the Sibelius Academy and Stadia in Helsinki, at music universities in Germany and the Netherlands and also on many courses and master classes. As a quartet Bravade has studied with Han Tol, founding member of the world-famous Flanders Recorder Quartet, and professor Peter Holtslag.
Bravade's aim is to introduce the broad spectrum of recorder music to its audience and bring forth the colours and possibilities of its beautiful instruments. The Quartet's rich and versatile program contains music from the Middle Ages up to the present day. Cooperation with other musicians and contemporary composers is an important part of Bravade. Bravade has performed together with many Finnish musicians, e.g. soprano Tuuli Lindeberg, sopranista Pasi Hyökki, alto Teppo Lampela, harpsichordist Petteri Pitko, organist Markku Mäkinen, The Golden Horns horn quartet and the Finnish baroque orchestra. In the years 2016-2017 Bravade has premiered works by Olli Virtaperko, Sebastian Fagerlund and Antti Auvinen.
Bravade has given concerts in Japan, Italy, Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands and in addition widely in its native country's music festivals, concert series, churches and concert halls. Bravade is also active in the field of children's culture: the theatrical Absentminded composer and his friends has been played well over two hundred times. At the moment Bravade tours in Finland with the new program for children The heavy brothers and classical experts competing. Their employer for childrens concerts is Konserttikeskus ry.
In addition to their debut album Reflections of the Past and Present, Bravade can be listened to on the Oulainen Youth Choir's Virsiä album (Alba Records, 2012). Bravade also performs music composed by Anna-Mari Kähärä on the soundtrack of Onneli and Anneli, a children's movie directed by Saara Cantell (2014).
Bravades artistic work has been supported by Suomen Kulttuurirahasto, Koneen säätiö and Svenska Kulturfonden.
