Recorder player Sunniva Fagerlund  and is a very energetic musician. She is especially interested in the possibilities offered by the combination of old and new music. Sunniva has performed both solo and as a chamber musician in several old music ensembles. At present, she regularly plays in the recorder quartet Bravade (2004-) and the Rosetta Ensemble (2019-).  Sunniva has been seen on stage in Finland and elsewhere in Europe, as well, and there are innumerable fairs and music festivals that have become familiar along the way. Her interest in contemporary music, has led to many premiéres of music by Sebastian Fagerlund, Olli Virtaperko, Eero Hämeenniemi, Perttu Haapanen and Antti Auvinen.

Sunniva acted as the artistic director of the “Paraisten Barokin labyrinteissä” (In the Labyrinths of Baroque) Festival in Parainen 2009- 2019. In 2009 Sunniva was presented a cultural award by the Turunmaa Cultural Foundation. She teaches recorder at the “Länsi-Helsingin musiikkiopisto” (West Helsinki Music School)

She has received her education at Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia under the instruction of Janek Öller and at the Hamburg Academy of Music under Peter Holtslag. She has since sought further instruction in masters’ courses conducted by musicians, such as, Han Tol and Paul Leenhouts.
